The game will be released in Japan on October 28, 2020, with a closed beta later this spring. The sequel to the popular Octopath Traveler has arrived in Japan, but it is not yet available on North American and European platforms. Unfortunately, Square’s sloppy development work means that this game won’t be worth your time. Unfortunately, that’s the problem with free-to-play mobile games, so we can’t expect to get very much excitement from it. The gameplay is too grindy, and it feels like the characters are constantly getting stuck in grinding walls. While the game plays very similarly to the original, it is still far from exciting. The graphics are impressive as well, with the usual HD-2D art style that makes this genre popular. As far as the game’s storyline, it’s similar to the original Octopath Traveler, with turn-based field command systems and an eight-character roster. The game will first be released in Japan in October 2020, and is expected to expand to North America and Europe later that year. It’s been a while since the Octopath Traveler series came to the west, but Square Enix has announced that the prequel to the popular RPG is coming to mobile.
